secret house.
i had my own secret home
which only i knew was hidden somewhere
only me, pen and papers of mine
had complete access to it
my parents always wondered
asked me questions
"where did all the papers go?"
i shrug with an answer "i dont know"
just to get more papers and pens to write
after a little while, i met you
few months passed we got closer
i casually asked you
"wanna see something cool?"
hiding in all my excitement,
in fear of getting a rejection.
you replied with a shrug and "yea sure" so casual
toothy grin, skipped steps and lots of giggles
we reached the gate of my secret place
which was more like my home to me
the stairs made of rocks were covered with
small, green, pretty plants
decorating them, looking extraordinary
i was about to get you a wooden staircase
i built on my own
but you already made your way inside
stepping on those little lives
something inside me ached and burned
i stood there like a mute fool
carrying the wooden staircase i built on my own
staring at the little plants now left few of them
a little withered.
i stood there all the times
when you started visiting my secret house often
continued stepping on those little lives
threw my pen and paper out somewhere
replaced it with something strange
without even asking me a simple question
"are you ok with all these changes?"
now i'm still standing like a fool
carrying the wooden staircase i built on my own
staring at the brown little lives
which are no more alive
kicked out of my own home
which protected me from all the screams
and shattered glasses like my own.
Beautifully written. Loved reading it. ✨
